Information we need

If your spouse/partner applies for a loan of more than £4,750 or a bursary and your household income is less than £34,000 per year, you will need to provide your household income details as part of your spouse’s/partner’s application for this funding. If you send us your household income separately from the online application (i.e. on a paper form), it will delay your spouse’s/partner’s application.

Documents to send us

The table below provides details of the documents you need to send us to support your spouse/partner’s application and when you need to send them. The quickest way to send documents to us is through our document upload service. Alternatively, you can post them to us. You should only send us photocopies of documents, as we destroy all documents we receive after 30 days.

Details of where to send your documents are available in the contact us section. You should quote your spouse/partner’s SAAS student reference number on all correspondence you send us.

Documentation required by SAAS.
Your spouse/partner’s application Documents to send us
If your spouse/partner applies for a loan of more than £4,750, a bursary or living costs grants and your household income is less than £34,000 per year. If your spouse/partner has never applied to us for funding before or has taken a break from study of at least one year, you must send us proof of earnings such as P60s etc for year ending April 2016. You only need to send these documents with your spouse/partner’s first application or the first application after a break of at least one year.

If your spouse/partner applied to us for funding last year and you sent us documents to verify your household income, you do not need to send us these documents again, unless you are randomly selected as part of our quality assurance process. We will inform you in writing if this applies to you. If you have not yet sent us your household income documents for 2015-2016 we will restrict your spouse/partner’s funding for 2016-2017 to the non income assessed loan of £4,750.

You must send us proof of earnings such as P60s etc for year ending April 2015 if your spouse/partner is returning to education after a break in study of at least one year.

If you have more than one student in the family who is applying to us for funding i.e. a spouse/partner and a child, you only need to supply the above documents with one application. You should ensure that your personal details (including your NI number) are supplied on all applications to allow us to match your documents to all applications.

You can download and send us the forms below if you do not have your P60 or self assessment tax form. These forms must be signed and stamped by your employer or the department for work and pensions before you send them to us:

We may ask you at a later time to send us a copy of specific documents as part of our quality assurance process.
